We finished writing sentences in our noir bat book and read our sentences to Madame Emily. Which one doesn't belong? Please discuss with your child. In math, we looked at four different pictures and talked about which one doesn't belong and why. Then, we shared our thoughts and ideas aloud. This helps us develop and practice our reasoning skills. In social studies, we looked at a map of the world and located Canada and Europe. We also discussed who the first explorers to Canada were and when Canada was discovered. Madame Emily read us a book about bison/buffalo life.

Our words of the week are: toi, moi, je vois, *oi This is a shield that the First Nations People used to protect themselves. This is a quiver. It was used by the First Nations People to hold and store their arrows. This is a Métis sash (une ceinture fléchée), that was traditionally worn around the waist. This is a spoon/ladle that is made out of a buffalo/bison horn. We looked at different kinds and colours of beads that were used for trading between the First Nations People and the settlers/European explorers. We are busy weaving (tisser) our scarves!
